COMBINED HEAT AND POWER (Micro CHP)
What we at Irishpower.ie think is most novel about our hybrid energy module, is that it also includes heatpump technology. It has long been known that heatpumps by their very nature operate with a very positive coefficient of performance (COP).
This means that they only require one unit of electrical energy to harvest three or four units of heat energy, making them incredibly efficient when compared to standard heating systems. We place our heatpumps within the same module as our gas fired generator, which has the net effect of reclaiming any heat energy produced by the generator itself when it is running. In cold weather this increases the efficiency of the heatpump and makes for an extremely efficient energy conversion process, of which we are very proud. Both our generator and our heatpump are controlled by inverter technology, and this ensures that electrical energy generation will match heat energy consumption at an efficiency of up to 5:1 in some cases. For example, your home or business may have a 10kW heating requirement, but the generator in the hybrid energy module only has to produce 2 or 3kW to enable this to happen. Or the heating requirement may be 5kW, the generator will sense this and may only need to produce 1.5kW.
